Recognise Healthy Body Systems

Complete the table below to describe how the body supports healthy functioning.

Body Component Processes and conditions for this component

(How does the body function and process?)

Resources required to maintain healthy functioning of this component

(What help is needed by the body?)

Example: Homeostasis The process of self-regulating internal body conditions to ensure stability and balance. The body uses negative and positive feedback systems to bring the unstable environment back within healthy parameters. For example the absorption of nutrients and minerals in the blood stream aid in providing the energy required to function. The nervous system helps maintain stability by sending signals to parts of the body to help regulate processes such as digestion when required. The digestive system absorbs nutrients and minerals required for healthy functioning and energy supply which is conducted with the help of organs such as mouth, intestines, stomach, liver and gallbladder.
