Learning Outcome 1: Identify and explore how psycho-social theories and models and communication science support the development of therapeutic, compassionate and effective relationships in nursing and social work practice. Learning Outcome 2: Demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to locate evidence to support and underpin nursing and social work theory and practice. This assignment requires you to consider the statement below and explore how psycho-social theories and models of communication support this: “The development of a therapeutic, compassionate and effective relationship is at the heart of nursing and social work practice when working with a diverse and vulnerable service user population”. When planning and writing your assignment please ensure you: • include an introduction, in order to signpost what the assignment will explore and a conclusion to summarise the main points. • use contemporary literature and evidence to describe what is meant by therapeutic, compassionate and effective relationships when working with people with learning disabilities. You should make reference to psycho-social theories to support your discussion. • consider and apply a model of communication which can be used to promote the development of therapeutic, compassionate and effective relationships. • support your work with up to date, credible literature, evidence and references from a nursing AND social work perspective. • avoid using bullet points in your assignment.
