Unit Aims

This unit aims to foster career building, personal and professional development and critical reflection. ePortfolios are a new and exciting concept that are being adopted by higher education institutions throughout Australia and have already gained widespread acceptance overseas. Developing an ePortfolio will enable students to present evidence of their academic and professional achievements during the undertaking of this course. Students will gain a better understanding by reflecting on their own abilities, academic achievements and their identity as both a healthcare professional and a scholar.

Unit Learning Outcomes

After satisfactorily completing this unit students will have gained the ability to:

• demonstrate personal practical knowledge by reflecting critically on their academic and work experience (1, 3, 4);

• demonstrate that they have acquired and applied knowledge and developed a knowledge base (1, 3, 4);

• demonstrate creativity and higher order learning through synthesis (1, 3, 4);

• demonstrate citizenship qualities such as team work, communication and social responsibility based on evidence from their studies (6);

• provide evidence of key aspects of their world view having developed conceptually over time (1, 3, 4, 6).

• How are privacy and disclosure issues addressed in an ePortfolio design?

• Designing the ePortfolio

• Completing an ePortfolio
